Protean PAN Services

Protean eGov Technologies

Authorised PAN service information for new PAN applications, corrections, reprints, and PAN-related help.

Quick answer

If PAN is already allotted, do not apply for a new PAN. Download e-PAN through the official service associated with your PAN application or provider, or request a physical reprint through an authorised provider. The Income Tax Department confirms that e-PAN is valid.

For a new eligible individual who has never been allotted PAN, the Income Tax portal also offers Instant e-PAN using Aadhaar-based authentication. That service issues e-PAN, not a physical card.

Choose the right PAN service

| Your situation | Service to use | | --- | --- | | PAN allotted and you need a PDF copy | Download e-PAN through the applicable official/authorised service | | PAN allotted and you want a card delivered | PAN reprint through Protean or UTIITSL | | PAN details or delivery address are wrong | Correction/change request before reprint | | Never had PAN and meet Instant e-PAN conditions | Instant e-PAN on the Income Tax portal | | PAN is linked to an incorrect Aadhaar | Follow the official delinking/correction route; do not create another PAN |

Download an existing e-PAN

The correct download channel can depend on how and where the PAN was processed. Start with the Income Tax e-Filing portal or the authorised provider shown on your acknowledgement.

Keep these ready:

  • PAN or acknowledgement number
  • Date of birth or incorporation
  • Aadhaar or other authentication detail requested by the official service
  • Access to the registered mobile number or email

Complete authentication, download the PDF, and store it securely. Do not upload the unmasked file to a public converter or messaging group.

Instant e-PAN for a person without PAN

Instant e-PAN is for an eligible individual who has not already been allotted PAN and can complete the required Aadhaar authentication. According to the Income Tax Department, it is online and paperless and issues a valid e-PAN.

It does not automatically send a physical PAN card. After allotment, a physical print can be requested separately through the authorised reprint links listed by the department.

If your Aadhaar name, date of birth, gender, or linked mobile details prevent authentication, correct the Aadhaar record through UIDAI instead of repeatedly retrying or applying for another PAN.

Order a physical PAN reprint

The Income Tax Department identifies authorised reprint routes through:

Before paying:

  1. Confirm that the domain is exact and secure.
  2. Select reprint only when the PAN database details are already correct.
  3. Review the address or delivery information shown by the authorised flow.
  4. Complete the requested identity and OTP verification.
  5. Review the current fee on the official payment screen.
  6. Save the acknowledgement and track dispatch through the same provider.

If the address is obsolete, complete the appropriate PAN correction/change process first. A simple reprint is not a substitute for correcting PAN data.

Common problems

  • e-PAN download fails: confirm the provider, PAN details, date of birth, and registered contact access.
  • OTP does not arrive: check whether the service uses Aadhaar-linked or PAN-application contact details.
  • Card goes to an old address: verify whether a correction is required before reprint.
  • Payment succeeded but no acknowledgement appears: check the provider's payment/status service before paying again.
  • Aadhaar is already linked to a PAN: do not request Instant e-PAN; retrieve or correct the existing PAN.

Avoid PAN scams

  • Never hold or apply for more than one PAN.
  • Do not trust a sponsored search result merely because it appears first.
  • Never share OTPs, portal passwords, or full identity documents with an unknown person.
  • Check whether the page belongs to Income Tax, Protean, or UTIITSL before payment.
  • A private provider cannot guarantee allotment, correction, printing, or delivery.

NammaGuide can help identify whether you need download, reprint, or correction. The PAN authority and authorised processors control the actual record and fulfilment.

FAQ

Is e-PAN valid without a physical PAN card?

Yes. The Income Tax Department states that e-PAN is a valid form of PAN.

Can I use Instant e-PAN if I already have a PAN?

No. Instant e-PAN is not a way to obtain another PAN. If a PAN is already allotted, use the relevant e-PAN download or reprint service.

How can I get a physical PAN delivered?

An existing PAN holder can request a printed reprint through an authorised provider such as Protean or UTIITSL. Check the displayed address, fee, and dispatch details before payment.

Does PAN reprint correct my name or address?

No. A reprint generally reproduces the details held in the PAN database. Use a PAN correction/change request first when a core detail or communication address must be updated.
