What is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) 2026?
Karnataka’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), which officially began on June 30, 2026, is a comprehensive exercise conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Its goal is to clean, purify, and update the electoral roll to ensure that "no eligible citizen is left out and no ineligible citizen is included."
Unlike the annual Special Summary Revision (SSR)—where only those seeking corrections or new enrollments participate—SIR requires every single voter to complete a verification process to eliminate duplicate names, deceased voters, and outdated entries.

To help you easily visualize the steps, here is our hand-drawn 2D infographic outlining the full workflow for collecting, filling, and submitting your Form:

Important Timelines to Remember
- BLO House-to-House Visits (Enumeration): June 30 – July 29, 2026
- Publication of Draft Electoral Roll: August 5, 2026
- Claims and Objections Window: August 5 – September 4, 2026
- Final Electoral Roll Publication: October 7, 2026
Note: Timelines can be adjusted by ECI. Always consult the official website of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Karnataka for real-time updates.
The Two Ways to Participate: Offline vs. Online
Voters can complete the revision through one of two methods:
- Offline (BLO Visit): Your Booth Level Officer (BLO) will visit your house carrying two partially pre-filled copies of your Enumeration Form (EF). You verify/fill in the blanks, sign it, and hand one copy back. Keep the second copy (signed by the BLO) as your receipt.
- Online (ECI Portal): You can fill and submit the Enumeration Form online by visiting voters.eci.gov.in. This is highly recommended for voters who are currently away from home or did not receive a visit.

- Go to the official Voters' Services Portal.
- Click on 'Fill Form 8' in the Correction of Entries section.
- Log in using your mobile number and OTP.
- Select 'Self' or enter your EPIC ID.
- Click on 'Correction of Entries' under the Application Type list.
- Check the 'Mobile Number' checkbox.
- Enter your new mobile number and verify it via OTP.
- E-sign using your Aadhaar number (your mobile must be linked to your Aadhaar for this verification step).
- Submit the form and save the Reference Number to track the status.

Step 3: Map 2002 Historical Records (Self-Mapping & Progeny Mapping)
To combat duplicate entries, the ECI links voters in the current 2025/2026 rolls with historical records from the 2002 SIR.
Structure of the Enumeration Form (EF):
- Section 1: Details of the voter from 2002 SIR (Self-Mapping):
- If you were registered in 2002, search the database to find your historical Assembly Constituency, Part Number, and Serial Number.
- If you were not registered in 2002 (e.g., under 18 at that time), skip this section.
- Section 2: Details of Relatives from 2002 SIR (Progeny Mapping):
- If you filled out Section 1, enter the same relative's details from the 2002 database.
- If you skipped Section 1, you must enter the 2002 historical records of one of your parents or grandparents (father, mother, grandfather, grandmother). This relative can be from any state in India.
- Section 3: Details of the voter:
- Fill in mandatory details: DOB, mobile, mother's/father's/spouse's names, Aadhaar number (optional), and parents' or spouse's EPIC numbers.
- Aadhaar eSign & Consent: During the final submission step, you will be prompted to read the consent and enter your Aadhaar number or VID to generate an OTP on your Aadhaar-registered mobile.

Common FAQs & Troubleshooting
Q1. What if I cannot find my own or any relative's details in the 2002 database?
You will be treated as a "new voter." You should submit the Enumeration Form by filling only Section 1 (your current details). After the draft roll is published on August 5, you must submit a Form 6 along with your age/address proof and declaration during the claims and objections window (Aug 5 – Sept 4).
Q2. Do I need to submit physical documents?
No document submission is required when submitting the Enumeration Form. However, if the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) has doubts about your eligibility, they may issue a notice requesting verification documents after the draft roll is published.
Q3. What to do if I am not in town?
Any adult family member can fill out the details and sign the Enumeration Form on your behalf. If the entire household is away, complete the form online via voters.eci.gov.in.
Q4. What if my parents have passed away and their names aren't in 2002?
You can search for any maternal or paternal relative (such as an uncle or aunt) who is verified on the 2002 list to establish your progeny mapping.
Q5. What happens if I fail to verify?
Completing the SIR is crucial to keep your name on the electoral rolls. In official statements, authorities have warned that failing to be verified risks deletion of your name from the voter list, which may impact access to citizen benefits.

What is the timeline for the Karnataka SIR 2026 process?
The door-to-door BLO visits take place from June 30 to July 29, 2026. The draft roll is published on August 5, followed by the claims and objections window until September 4, and the final roll publication on October 7, 2026.
What is the difference between SSR and SIR?
Special Summary Revision (SSR) happens annually and only requires action if you want to enroll, delete, or correct details. Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a comprehensive re-verification exercise where every single voter must participate.
